**Experienced Overnight Emergency Department Medical Scribe – Remote Work Opportunity with Competitive Salary and Benefits**

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Medical Scribe to join our team on a full-time or part-time basis. As a Medical Scribe, you will assist Emergency Medicine physicians with various administrative aspects of patient care in the Emergency Department, including recording patient history, review of systems, physical exam findings, progress notes, and laboratory and diagnostic results. This is a remote work opportunity, and you will be required to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Additional differential pay is provided for overnight shifts.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Assist physicians in charting (electronic or paper) by recording the documentation of an accurate, concise, and complete patient history and review of systems based on patient-physician interactions.
- Record a physical exam based on a physician's dictation, accurately transferring lab and radiology results from the electronic system or as dictated by physicians, radiologists, or other emergency department staff.
- Record progress or procedures notes, clinical impression, plan, and follow-up.
- Assist physicians in managing patient flow by notifying them when the results of laboratory or diagnostic studies are available.
- Monitor charts to ensure timely completion, including history, physical exam, review of systems, labs, diagnostic studies, ECGs, initial assessment and plan, progress notes, procedure notes, impression/diagnosis, discharge plan with disposition, and signatures.
- Send incomplete charts back to the appropriate physician(s) as needed.
- Assist in recording the documentation of patient admission, transfer, or discharge plan and follow-up.
- Communicate with other hospital personnel through face-to-face conversations, paging, phone calls, and e-mails.
- Navigate electronic records to retrieve previous medical records, prior labs results, etc.
- Administer patient surveys as requested.
- Assist supervisor with other administrative duties as needed.
- Assist with the training of new Scribe/CIM hires as needed.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- Formal medical scribe training and previous experience as a Medical Scribe in the Emergency Department.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records systems and other relevant software applications.
- A Bachelor's degree (preferred) and a strong understanding of medical terminology and concepts.
Preferred Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with:
- Experience working in a fast-paced emergency department environment.
- Knowledge of medical coding and billing principles.
- Experience with electronic medical records systems, including Epic and Cerner.
- A strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality principles.
