NCSE Development Associate

Start Date: January 1, 2025

Job Type: Part-time (24 hours per week)

Reports to: Director of Development

Organizational Overview

The National Center for Science Education (NCSE) helps ensure students across the country receive an accurate and effective evolution and climate science education. It does this by supporting teachers with resources and best teaching practices; by monitoring and mobilizing against efforts to undermine science education, whether at the statehouse or in the classroom; and by engaging in research to understand and improve science education.

Position Summary

This new position will help expand NCSE’s reach and impact by growing its base of members and will ensure current members continue their support by actively engaging with them. The Development Associate will manage many member communications projects and oversee a new membership acquisition project.

Primary Responsibilities
• Current Member Engagement and Communications
•... Write and carry out implementation activities for email announcements about member engagement events.
• Write and regularly update templates for general thank you and renewal reminder emails and letters to members.
• Manage and carry out implementation activities for fundraising emails and direct mail appeal letters during biannual fundraising campaigns.
• Member Acquisition
• Manage and implement a new member acquisition project using the iWave platform.
• Write and regularly update templates for “welcome series” emails to be sent to prospective members.
• Initiate new projects that will lead to acquiring new members.

Required Experience and Skills
• A minimum of two years of fund development experience.
• Strong writing skills, including writing persuasive and engaging messaging.
• Demonstrated donor database management experience, preferably with Salesforce.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Experience and Skills
• Experience with iWave.
• Experience with Monday.com.
• Experience working across and within teams
