About the position

The Property Claims Representative at Auto-Owners Insurance is responsible for managing insurance claims in the field, focusing on property claims. This role involves investigating, evaluating, and resolving claims while providing excellent service to agents and insureds. The position offers a merit-based work-from-home program after initial training, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements.

Responsibilities
• Investigate and assemble facts related to claims.

• Determine policy coverage and evaluate the amount of loss.

• Analyze legal liability associated with claims.

• Handle multi-line property and casualty claims in an assigned territory, emphasizing property claims.

• Become familiar with insurance coverage by studying policies, endorsements, and forms.

• Work toward the resolution of claims and attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials as necessary.

• Ensure timely and accurate issuance of claims payments.

• Conduct investigations via phone, mail, and on-site as needed.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in handling property and casualty claims.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience handling multi-line property and casualty claims, with an emphasis on property claims.

• Field claims handling experience preferred but not required.
,
• Knowledge of Xactimate software preferred but not required.
,
• Above-average written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to resolve complex issues and organize data effectively.

• Ability to handle multiple assignments and work with diverse individuals.

• Strong mathematical skills, including geometry and financial document interpretation.

• Valid driver's license and a driving record consistent with the company's underwriting guidelines.
