Join us and discover why Modern Healthcare Magazine named us in its “Top 100 Places to Work.” *This is a REMOTE position with onsite requirements in Oklahoma City* Overview: The Drug Diversion Specialist (Diversion Specialist) provides oversight and direction for the daily operations of the Drug Diversion Prevention, Detection, and Response Program. The Diversion Specialist is accountable for all aspects of drug diversion education, prevention, monitoring, investigation, and reporting. Key functions of this position are to identify at-risk practices, collaboratively develop an audit plan, independently conduct the audit and present the results back to the managers of pharmacy and other departments. He or she will collaborate on drug-related processes as needed with the Internal Audit and Corporate Compliance departments. He or she will frequently interact with managers and other coworkers. Major infractions concerning controlled substances or patient safety will be communicated immediately to the appropriate manager so action can be promptly taken to resolve the issues. Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Licensure: Must be registered and in good standing with the Oklahoma Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician. Experience: 2 or more years in auditing, investigations or related experience and/or two or more years of pharmacy, nursing or related experience OR minimum of eight years of healthcare experience with a focus on drug distribution and operations required. Certifications: Must be registered and in good standing with the Oklahoma Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.. National Pharmacy Technician Certification is preferred. Skills and Abilities: Work is accurate, organized, thorough, and exhibits a strong knowledge of pharmacy and auditing practices. Working records are concise, well organized and document the audit work performed. The content of those documents and records supports conclusions as communicated in audit reports. The ability to analyze data and recognize deviations from expected findings Exhibits initiative, creativity, poise, tact, judgment, and the ability to make decisions. Experience in drug diversion prevention processes. Strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. The ability to work in an organized and detail-oriented manner. Exhibits the ability to understand the logical flow of the processes being audited, is able to identify problems or control/security gaps in those processes and can identify workable solutions to those problems. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and managers of hospital departments. The ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in daily interactions with coworkers and through written audit reports. Excellent public speaking and teaching abilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively implement change and work collaboratively with diverse, multidisciplinary teams. Thorough understanding of medication-dispensing technology required. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Must become familiar with pharmacy related licensing regulations, accreditation standards, and professional practice standards to be effective in this role. Knowledge and understanding of federal and state medication handling and controlled substances regulations. Previous experience in trending and analyzing data. Training for interviewing techniques. Ability and willingness to work on call. Proficiency with computer software - particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The ability to analyze data and recognize deviations from expected finding. He or she must be inquisitive by nature and possess good problem-solving skills. We prefer knowledge of and experience with basic accounting skills. Prior Pharmacy or healthcare experience with some familiarity with controlled drug laws strongly preferred. Meets Health System attendance standards. Observes universal precautions consistently. Wears proper personal protective equipment when appropriate. Wears clothing and Health System badge consistent with dress code and attends to personal hygiene to maintain a clean, well-groomed appearance. Performs related duties as assigned.
