Your Opportunity Stantec's Mountain Region is looking for a Senior Resource Specialist with at least 5 years of experience preparing environmental documents pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). As a Senior Resource Specialist, you will provide assistance in the review and analysis of natural resources across a variety of projects for a diverse range of industries and clients, including federal, state, and local projects. This could include assistance with the preparation of NEPA (EA and EIS) documents, review of baseline reporting, incidental and/or disturbance take permits, Endangered Species Act permitting, preparation of mitigation plans, and other work. Our NEPA work is primarily focused on mining and geothermal development on public lands in the Great Basin region. Successful candidates will be comfortable handling project development, management, and technical responsibility of environmental compliance and natural resources projects. As a Senior Resource Specialist, you will have a strong understanding of NEPA analysis, including impact determinations, and be eager to learn a variety of environmental regulatory processes. Primary duties will focus on collaborating with management staff and other team members on research, technical report writing, and QA/QC review of analytical sections of environmental documents. Your Key Responsibilities Conduct completeness reviews of baseline documentation and prepare impact analyses across a variety of natural resources with a focus on biological resources (wildlife, species status species, threatened and endangered species, vegetation, etc.) and work to ensure the success of the team and efficiency of NEPA projects. Assist in data review and writing biology and botany resource sections for NEPA and/or baseline documents. Assistance with NEPA analysis of other resources may be required. Qualifications Your Capabilities and Credentials Thorough understanding of technical environmental impact analysis methods and sound knowledge of NEPA requirements and related environmental regulations. Team oriented with strong capability to motivate others. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated experience with planning projects and ability to motivate self and others to overcome obstacles and achieve goals. Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and to prioritize and balance sometimes heavy workloads to achieve goals while keeping up with a highly mobile and changing environment. Experience and ability in collaborative problem solving, with teammates, stakeholders, and clients. Must be a highly motivated self-started. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Ability to work independently and successfully lead development of specialized resource writing. Experience with the BLM and/or USFS NEPA processes and requirements preferred. A working knowledge of and experience with mapping software (ArcGIS) is a plus. Excellent ability to facilitate decision making and issue resolution processes is a plus. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental policy, environmental planning, or related field, and at least 5 years of related experience. Master's degree is a bonus but not required. 5 years of experience, preferably in environmental consulting, or working for a federal/state environmental agency and/or 5 years of experience working with environmental permitting projects relating to the NEPA. Experience with additional regulatory requirements a plus. Demonstrated experience and or familiarity with various environmental regulatory policy. Experience with task leadership. Good communication skills and ability to work with others. Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s): Salary Range(s): $81,000 - $121,400 (CA, CO locations only) $81,000 - $121,400 (WA location only) The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
