The appointment will be made at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor rank depending on the candidate's experience. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: The Teaching Professor will be assigned to teach courses, utilizing modern teaching models, in their areas of expertise throughout the undergraduate and graduate curriculum, including mechanical and thermal fluid courses. Once familiar with program requirements, the Teaching Professor will advise undergraduate Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering majors and will participate in course and curriculum development. Applicants for the Teaching Professor position are expected to be highly effective classroom teachers with excellent educational leadership and organizational skills. They should have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, to educating a broad and diverse group of students and in increasing the participation and success of students from groups underrepresented in engineering. Applicants with significant experience outside of academia are encouraged to demonstrate how such experience will bring value to our educational programs. An initial multi-year appointment as a regular or specialized faculty will be offered in accordance with the University's Faculty Code. Teaching faculty typically teach multiple courses per semester, with the possibility of graduate and undergraduate teaching assistant support. Research and/or service responsibilities will be assigned as appropriate based on the faculty member's interests and department's needs. Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or a related area, by date of appointment is required.
