Paid Internship - Business Development & Sales
Job Summary
Looking for a chance to gain real-world sales experience while doing something that actually makes a difference?
We’re a mission-driven small business focused on clothing recycling in East Tennessee — placing bright green donation bins at schools, non-profits, and businesses to support sustainability and give back to our community. We’re growing fast, and we need a self-starter who’s ready to help us keep that momentum going.
This is a paid internship designed for a college student who’s curious about sales, wants to build professional skills, and isn't afraid to pick up the phone and get after it.
- What You’ll Be Doing
- Research schools, churches, and community businesses that may be a good fit for one of our clothing bins.
- Cold call and email new prospects using leads you source (with tools we’ll show you).
- Schedule video calls or in-person visits with decision-makers.
- Track outreach and follow-ups in simple tools like Google Sheets.
- Partner with schools and other nonprofits to promote their bins using social media posts, newsletters, and simple promotional flyers we’ll help you create.
- Help manage relationships and communication with new and existing host sites.
- Celebrate every “yes” — each one helps reduce landfill waste and gives back to local organizations.
- Why This Role is Awesome
- Hands-on Sales Training: Learn what actually works in cold outreach and community partnerships.
- Work with Purpose: Be part of something meaningful — our bins help schools & non-profits raise money while keeping textiles out of landfills.
- Flexible Schedule: You’ll work part-time, with flexibility to fit your school schedule.
- Boost Your Resume: This isn’t coffee runs and busy work — you’ll own real work and see results.
- Local Territory: Work from home — no long commutes required.
- We’re Looking for Someone Who:
- Enjoys talking to people and isn't intimidated by cold calling or rejection.
- Is organized, persistent, and takes initiative without needing constant direction.
- Communicates clearly and professionally — especially over email and phone.
- Has access to a reliable phone and computer.
- Bonus if you're familiar with tools like Google Workspace, or Canva — but not required.
- Location & Pay
- Remote/local hybrid — based in East Tennessee (Knoxville, Chattanooga, or surrounding areas). Not essential to be based here but preferred.
- ~$18–$30/hr depending on experience and performance.
- Potential for longer-term opportunity.
