Work Experience
3 years nursing experience including critical/acute care preferred, and experience in at least one of the following: end stage organ disease, solid organ transplantation, hematology, and/or blood and marrow transplantation preferred.
PRIMARY PURPOSE
The primary purpose of this role is to serve as the central point of leadership and coordination of donor allocation for transplantation. Reporting to a director of nursing, this role focuses on team performance and clinical proficiency, policy development, regulatory compliance, and quality initiatives as it relates to agencies governing organ donation.
Major Responsibilities
- Ensure alignment of departmental work with organizational strategic plans and fosters a proactive approach to identifying emerging needs and opportunities for innovation. Supports program development and implementation using analysis, continuous improvement, and adult learning principles.
- Applies advanced knowledge of nursing in the delivery of evidence-based practices to drive quality patient care delivery and outcomes.
- Leads quality, regulatory, and performance initiatives to achieve expected outcomes.
- Promotes the generation and dissemination of new knowledge and use of evidence to guide clinical practice, improve patient care, and foster lifelong learning. Role model practices for creating and sustaining positive learning and practicing environments.
- Serves as an educator and implements a variety of teaching strategies tailored to the learner's characteristics, learning needs, cultural perspectives, and outcome objectives.
- Exhibits system thinking throughout the planning process. Develop collaborative partnerships to enhance health care through inter professional initiatives. Supports nurses and other healthcare teammates across learning and practicing environments, roles, and professional stages.
- Leads team onboarding/orientation, competency management, education, role development, collaborative partnerships and inquiry. Supports the design, development, and implementation of team deliverables
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
Graduate degree in nursing
Certification / Registration / License
Current RN License or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the state in which you work and reside or if declaring a National License Compact (NLC) state as your primary state of residency, meet the licensure requirements in your home state; or for Non-National License Compact states, current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner required in the state where the RN works. CPR Certification required
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Work requires long periods of sitting and utilizing a telephone headset. Work requires walking, standing, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling. Must be able to lift 25 pounds. Must speak English and adapt to fit the patient audience while conveying information. Intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, and touch. Good finger dexterity. Critical thinking skills and ability to concentrate in a fast-paced environment with numerous interruptions. Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient or call center conditions.
PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS
Certification / Registration / License
Ability to obtain and maintain the American Board of Transplant Coordination Certification (CCTC) preferred, required within two years of employment.
Previous program management experience preferred
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Leadership skills demonstrated by an increase of responsibilities which may include working in the role of charge nurse, preceptor, administration, or participation in professional organizations/committees preferred.
