Since 2002, Disability Management Institute (DMI) has been providing comprehensive claims management and review services to clients throughout Canada. We offer small and medium-sized employers and insurers flexible, innovative solutions to their disability management needs, including WCB/WSIB Claims Management, Non-Occupational Absence Management, Return to Work Planning, Rehab, Specialty Services and Disability Management.
Your Role
As a Case Manager Consultant, you will be a self-employed sub-contractor. With your excellent verbal and written communication skills and by utilizing a “holistic outcomes” approach, you will uncover the underlying drivers of unnecessary or prolonged absences. Your role involves providing varied disability management consultant services to a broad client base within both the insurance and employer marketplaces. This is a remote opportunity within Canada. Your Impact
- Provide short term support to business units with adjudication of claims within established time frames and within the scope of policy
- Claims support initiatives which may include Change of Definition decisions, Telephone Interviews, and strategic case reviews for identification of rehab and settlement appropriate files.
- Provide interpretive analysis of policy, medical documentation, and other data.
- Knowledge in rehabilitation plan development and resources to evaluate health event factors and determine employability.
- Utilize external and internal resources to move files toward resolution, focusing on function and gainful employment.
- Provide timely, in-depth documentation and report writing to ensure claims and rehabilitation goals are met.
- Engage in professional interaction with client, employer, insurer and union representatives
This Is You
- 5-7 years of experience in injury, recovery, STD and LTD disability case management in a group insurance environment, and/or rehab case management.
- Understanding and knowledge in vocational rehabilitation.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong ethical standards, professional integrity, and high-level communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
This Is Nice
- Post-secondary degree in Kinesiology, Occupational Therapy, Rehabilitation, Physical Therapy, or relevant post-secondary degree or diploma.
- Good standing with an associated regulatory body (e.g., BCAK, CAOT-BC) or membership in the Vocational Rehabilitation Association of Canada (VRA), and/or NIDMAR designation (Certified RTW Coordinator, Certified DM Professional).
