The RN – Quality Assurance is responsible for collecting and submitting reliable data for CMS, WSHA, and other required data tracking and reporting. Duties include high- quality data compilation, documentation and entry into the appropriate database, working closely with the members of the medical staff and clinical teams to identify opportunities for clinical quality improvement; and other special projects as needed.

This is a full-time remote exempt position.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Audits and monitors clinical outcomes of disease specific case
  • Collects data in accordance with CMS, DOH, WSHA, other specifications, including data entry and timely submission of required elements.
  • Creates and maintains measurement system for tracking outcomes and identifies areas that require improvement.
  • Educates staff in the various aspects of care & process improvement
  • Provides ongoing feedback and education to the interdisciplinary
  • Prompts physicians and care givers to perform tasks or document exceptions to improve compliance.
  • Acts as a resource for staff and physicians regarding the elements that comprise publicly reported data and external documentation initiatives.
  • Promotes mission, vision, and values, and abides by service behavior
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in field of expertise.
  • Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies. This includes, but is not limited to: security and safety, understanding of MSDS, equipment, infection control, fire, disaster, safe lifting and body mechanics.
  • Ensure self-compliance with organization policies and procedures, as well as labor agreements.
  • Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and efficient manner conducive to the organization’s values.
  • Conducts self in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the organization.
  • Ensures that additional accountabilities, as may be required by management, be handled in a manner necessary to meet organizational standards.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The Quality Specialist reports to the Quality and Risk Management Director and works closely with Department Leaders, Quality Improvement Team Leaders and Members, Senior Leadership Team, Medical Staff and other support staff. The Quality Specialist provides project management support to Quality and Risk programs.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Education:
  • Associate’s degree in nursing
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, preferred.
  • Certification:
  • Current Nurse licensure from Washington State or current multi-state Nurse license
  • Ability to obtain necessary certifications as determined by the organization or required for reporting data.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of at least 3 years of experience in healthcare setting, required.
  • Prior clinical patient care experience, preferred.
  • Skills/Competencies:
  • Strong data analysis skills, requiring interpretation of clinical results to develop program improvement projects
  • Strong facilitation skills and process improvement experience to successfully implement necessary changes to improve
  • Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team
  • Experience in understanding and usage of computers as well as the ability to learn new applications relevant to the position
  • Regular attendance to perform work during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts is required
    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Occasional standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling.
  • Good reading eyesight.
  • Prolonged sitting at a desk or computer station.
  • Occasionally required to perform activities outside of the facility.
  • Ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills for accurate exchange of information with physicians, nurses, health care professionals, patients and/or family, and the public.
