PostgreSQL Database Administrator and Business Analyst

Remote, USA Full-time Posted 2025-07-27

WHO WE ARE

Most revenue cycle companies perform their services using the same antiquated software their clients have already implemented – but not Encoda! We have designed innovative solutions using technology, automation, and data to simplify complexities in medical reimbursements. Our cloud-bases (SaaS) claims and denials management platform bridges the workflow gaps between Practice Management Systems, clearinghouses, and payers. It’s what makes us unique and undeniably key to our clients’ financial health!
WHO YOU ARE

We are seeking a seasoned and analytically minded hybrid PostgreSQL Database Administrator and Business Analyst to join our Data Operations team. This role will split responsibilities between database schema management and data transformation workflows. The ideal candidate is deeply experienced in practice management systems' financial data structures and understands the need for normalized, unified data to drive interoperability between disparate systems.

You will work directly with ETL pipelines, API integrations, and our internal EDI transaction engine, ensuring clean, consistent, and timely financial data transmission across systems such as Greenway Prime Suite, Greenway Intergy, Athena Practice, EClinicalWorks, NextGen, Nextech (all platforms), AdvancedMD, Epic, and Cerner Community Works.

    A DAY IN THE LIFE
  • Administer and optimize PostgreSQL schemas, indexes, and performance related to our central data warehouse
  • Own the design and maintenance of data mappings and transformations between vendor systems and our unified schema while the practice management system remains the “system of record”
  • Lead data ingestion processes from external practice management systems (PMS) into our financial and appointment data warehouse
  • Oversee API-based writebacks from our EDI engine to source systems (both real-time and batch)
  • Serve as the subject-matter expert on PMS financial data flows including payments, adjustments, charges, appointments, and claim activity
  • Monitor ETL pipelines for failures, anomalies, or data quality issues and drive remediation
  • Participate in architecture discussions around schema evolution and data pipeline improvements
  • Collaborate with internal engineers, data analysts, client success teams, and third-party vendors
  • 5+ years’ experience working directly with financial and scheduling data from medical practice management systems
  • Strong understanding of the common financial data domains (charges, payments, adjustments, appointments, encounters, insurance mapping, medical practice financial reporting)
  • Expertise in PostgreSQL database administration, including performance tuning, index optimization, and schema management
  • Proven success building and troubleshooting complex ETL workflows across diverse systems using Python and SQL languages
  • Experience with REST APIs for system integration (especially PMS or EHR APIs)
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with bash scripting, cron jobs, and job orchestration tools is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Our team is intelligent, compassionate, humble, and hardworking. You’ll have immediate access to inter-departmental peers for professional development and the opportunity to share expertise
  • Cutting-edge, cloud-first architecture and data standardization strategy
  • High-impact role central to our data quality and client success strategy
  • We are “technology forward”; Encoda has developed a unique and effective revenue cycle management software suite that is central to our services strategy
  • Our associates work 100% remotely
  • We offer a comprehensive benefit package, paid time off, medical and dental, matching 401k, and life insurance
  • The opportunity to be a part of a leading technical team with a strong mission, set of Core Values, and supportive and inclusive culture
