Infusion Nurse Supervisor
Position Summary
The Infusion Nurse Supervisor is a registered nurse who serves as a supervisor to staff nurses to ensure adherence to all organizational policies and procedures and to federal and state regulations. Is responsible for overall staffing of infusion nurses and responsible for the quality and safety of patient care.
Key Responsibilities
• Abides by organizational policies and procedures, as well as INS standards of practice, OSHA guidelines, State Nurse Practice Act, federal and state rules/regulations.
• Provides infusion and other skilled nursing care to patients such as patient assessments, patient/caregiver teaching, development and revision of the plan of care, implementation of physician orders, monitoring patient responses, responding to emergency patient needs and psychosocial support. Documents the above in the patient’s medical record.
• Maintains confidentiality at all times; strictly follows HIPAA laws and regulations.
• Provides training and direction to subordinates as required
• Attends, participates, and/or leads scheduled patient care conferences, in-services, departmental meetings/calls, as requested.
• Understands and adheres to all external accreditation review standards as appropriate.
• Participates in the quality program and maintains quality metrics.
• Travels, as necessary, to alternate locations to ensure staff are following policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates effective time management skills, displays a neat, clean, and professional appearance at all times.
• Completes payroll functions and staff appraisals as required.
• Performs other duties as required.
Education and Experience
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.
• Two years of current nursing experience in a clinical specialty involving infusion therapy is preferred.
• One year of supervisory experience required
Certification, Licenses, and Other Special Requirements
• Current and active registered nursing license in good standing with all governing bodies.
• CPR Certification required or must obtain upon hire
Knowledge and Skills
• Excellent IV skills
• Competent with applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
• Competent with electronic health records (e.g. Athena, WeInfuse)
• Effective written and oral communication skills
Health Status Requirements
• Ability to lift 60 pounds, to regularly sit, stand, stoop, bend, & kneel
• Hepatitis B Vaccine or signed waiver
• Flu vaccine or signed waiver
• Must provide current TB Screening or complete of one at time of hire
• Other state required health tests allowable by law
Continuing Education
• Completes continuing education necessary to maintain current licensure in all states licensed.
• Participates in and completes education, training, and competencies as assigned by supervisor
• Obtains additional nursing licenses as required
