JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Penn State Altoona is seeking an Adjunct Lecturer to teach CSD 218 or 318 or 418 or 428: American Sign Language (ASL) I, II and III, and IV. These courses are designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of ASL, including vocabulary development, grammatical structures, conversational skills, and cultural awareness. Instruction will emphasize both comprehension and production skills to develop students' fluency and accuracy in ASL. Subsequent courses will build upon the previous one(s).
Course Descriptions:
- Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging instructional materials to support student learning.
- Foster an interactive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation.
- Assess and provide feedback on student progress through assignments, exams, and class activities.
- Hold office hours and provide support for students as needed.
- Qualifications
- Master’s degree in American Sign Language, Deaf Studies, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Linguistics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in ASL and knowledge of Deaf culture.
- Previous teaching experience at the college level preferred.
