Overview
The Freelance Project Manager should have a passion for retail and will be focused on driving the execution of high-impact retail merchandising projects. This role will act as a strategic partner between clients and our in-house retail studio, ensuring that merchandising strategies align with brand objectives and are flawlessly implemented across multiple product categories and retail environments.
As a Freelance Project Manager, you will lead the workflow and execution of projects, overseeing timeline management, resource allocation, budgeting, and project tracking. You will play a critical role in ensuring projects run efficiently while continuously seeking ways to optimize processes, introduce innovation, and enhance the overall process.
You will collaborate with dedicated creative, production and quality assurance teams, as well as work closely with client stakeholders and executive sponsors. This is a terrific opportunity to work with a blue-chip client! The duration of this freelance role will be through January, 2026.
- Responsibilities
- Independently lead concurrent retail projects that sit within a broader program umbrella. Projects are focused on developing, iterating, and distributing retail store planograms at large scale volumes, with a strong focus on product-driven updates. The team overall is responsible for developing detailed schematics that determine where and how products should be displayed on tables, shelves and fixtures.
- Partner with clients, executives, and team members to plan, scope and produce great work, delivering on-time and on-budget while exceeding client expectations.
- Understand, clarify, and document client requests, drive prioritization, and define how we respond with flexibility and momentum.
- Define, document and optimize process innovations to help drive efficiencies and learnings as we grow. Adopt automation and embrace tools to streamline efficiency.
- Exhibit strong listening skills and the ability to tactfully communicate position on relevant issues to reach team consensus.
- Anticipate, identify, and communicate risks and proactively offer solutions to mitigate issues.
- Exceptional attention to detail is crucial to ensure all aspects of the planograms are accurately implemented and maintained. This includes managing inventory, understanding product placement, and ensuring compliance with established planograms.
- You must have previously managed teams and projects in the retail planning & merchandising space. You should be familiar with:

- How a production team uses software such as VectorWorks or AutoCAD, Adobe InDesign, and other software used in developing retail floor/space diagrams, table/fixture layouts, and product icons.
- * Expectations for quality assurance to validate that all deliverables meet exacting specifications such as consistency, visual indicators, spacing/sizing, product accuracy, and volume accuracy.
- * How the customer experience in retail affects space planning decisions, to help the team make informed product placement decisions to maximize sales and enhance the overall shopping experience.
- * Business drivers and considerations for merchandising teams, store planning teams, and retail partners worldwide.
- Qualifications
- 5-8 years of project management experience in an agency environment managing a high volume of retail projects focused on planogram development and changes based on the product lifecycle.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly in conjunction with work-flow steps and internal processes and ability to work with and manage distributed global teams.
- Proficient in communication, project management and workflow tools.
- Knowledge of agency finance processes, scoping methodologies, and budget management
- Experience in the consumer electronics industry is a plus

Compensation Range: $45 - $68 hourly. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. Temporary roles may also qualify for participation in our 401(k) plan after eligibility criteria have been met.
