    Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA) seeks two Project Coordinators in one of TRLA’s offices who will work closely with the Civil Director to facilitate the coordination of various program and project activities. The Project Coordinators will be responsible for a wide array of activities related to the Civil Program including:
  • Work with TRLA’s Project Managing Attorneys and staff to coordinate and support outreach activities in efforts to provide representation and advocacy for clients. These activities include individual outreach, meeting support, and presentations to community partners. Identify where outreach efforts should be directed.
  • Become familiar with the legal remedies, support, and services available to people and assist the program’s team in pursuing those remedies on behalf of clients;
  • Work with the project team members to identify and recruit pro bono attorneys and solicit attorneys to represent specific clients.
  • Support and coordinate the involvement and efforts of project partners, including organizations, community leaders, and funding resources;
  • Work with project team members to identify where litigation could be a useful strategy and to help communicate with other team members so that they can remain actively engaged in any initiated litigation.
  • Develop outreach materials, including informational and educational material, in all mediums including but not exclusive of pamphlets and flyers in coordination with the digital media team.
  • Assist with Project data collection and monitor responsiveness to follow up as needed;
  • Collect and maintain information for grant compliance. Provide reports and data as needed for grant compliance and reporting;
  • Coordinate and provide logistics assistance for projects and initiatives within the project; and
  • Perform other related duties and activities as assigned by the project managers.

This is an in-person position, and regular, on-site attendance is considered an essential function of the role. While TRLA supports flexibility and may allow occasional remote work where appropriate and with prior approval, consistent in-person attendance is expected.

Qualifications & Preferences

    Qualifications:
  • Degree from a 4-year university, or equivalent years of experience;
  • Detail oriented and strong organizational skills;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Good interpersonal skills;
  • Experience in working the practice of the project;
  • Computer skills, e.g., Microsoft office; and
  • Some experience in resource development and grant writing preferred.
    Preferences:
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Outreach and community engagement experience.
  • Dedication to economic, social, and racial justice.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible schedule to include some weekends and evenings.
  • Ability to travel.
