Role Description
- You will be responsible for configuring all of Fiserv’s mainframe related hardware in our US and our global data centers: mainframes, disk, virtual tape and SAN switches. You will replace and upgrade hardware, keep up with fixes and patches and resolve problems to ensure deliverables are met.
- Design and configure mainframe hardware systems to meet our global mainframe infrastructures needs
- Diagnose and resolve hardware issues to ensure optimal performance and reliability
- Monitor system performance and adjust to improve efficiency and effectiveness
- Work closely with software engineers, system administrators, and other IT professionals to ensure seamless integration and operation of hardware and software systems
- Maintain detailed documentation of hardware configurations, changes, and maintenance activities including connectivity diagrams
- Utilize the IOCP mainframe to define and manage the input and output configurations
- Participate in datacenter relocations, client migrations and disaster recovery exercises
- Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in mainframe hardware, software engineering
- 8+ years of experience in mainframe hardware components, system architecture, and troubleshooting techniques
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education, work, and military service
- Requirements
- Understanding of standard networking protocols and components such as HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, ICMP, subnetting, and load balancing strategies
- Certifications (e.g., IBM Certified Specialist) may be advantageous
- How you’ll work
- This role requires use of a computer and audio equipment
- This role requires being on-call during non-standard and/or overnight hours on a rotating basis
