Education - Youth Learning Internship
Support the Whitney Museum’s Youth Learning division by assisting with teen programs, art materials, and program administration.
Your Role:
- Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting during in-person Youth Insights and drop-in Teen Programs to create a welcoming environment for teens at the Museum
- Preparing art materials, organizing material inventory, and managing digital files
- Performing administrative tasks to support programs, including tracking statistics, researching art supplies, managing student data, and creating signs and informational materials
- Assisting in outreach and marketing efforts
About You:
- The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Demonstrated interest in art history, contemporary art, American studies, and/or museum education
- Strong interest in K-12 Museum Education and a desire to learn more about inquiry-based teaching in the galleries
- Excellent attention to detail and written communication skills
- Ability to be flexible, personable, multitask, and work in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with MS Office and Google Suite
- Compensation & Benefits:
- Interns will be paid a stipend of $3000.
- Additional benefits may include access to museum events, networking opportunities, and professional development resources commonly offered to interns at the Whitney Museum.
Training & Development:
Interns will receive training to lead inquiry-based discussions, collect and analyze data, conduct research for new exhibitions, and develop art workshops. Training includes Outlook, calendar management, and all necessary technological and administrative skills. Interns will gain familiarity with artmaking and working with high school-aged audiences.
Career Progression:
Interns will gain experience in developing and producing museum programming, improve writing and documentation skills, and develop the ability to create artmaking activities related to Whitney exhibitions. This role provides foundational experience for careers in museum education, art history, and related fields.
