Responsibilities
The Senior Revenue Guardian supports accurate charge capture, coding, billing, and revenue routing for medium to high-complexity hospital departments. Responsibilities include conducting record audits, evaluating regulations and payer guidelines, monitoring work queues, providing staff education, resolving undercharges and overcharges, correcting coding errors, and performing charging analysis to identify trends and resolve issues. The role also involves responding to third-party payer audit requests and monitoring revenue reports to ensure proper revenue capture and posting.
- Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a health or business-related field preferred; or 4 years of related work experience.
- Licensure/Certification
- RN, LPN, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-H, CCA (must be obtained within 1 year of starting).
- Additional Skills/Qualifications
- Experience with Health Information Management, Facility/Physician Billing, Charge Description Master, Denials Management, Charge Integrity, Financial Analysis, or Healthcare Compliance certification preferred.
- Knowledge of coding and medical record review procedures.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Understanding of third-party billing, collections, and government programs.
- Proficiency with Windows-based software and healthcare applications like SDK, EPIC, 3M, and CDM software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
- EPIC workflow and reporting experience preferred.
