- Responsibilities
- Process and submit medical billing claims to insurance companies and patients.
- Review patient records for accuracy and completeness, ensuring all necessary documentation is included.
- Utilize ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG coding systems to accurately code diagnoses and procedures.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical billing regulations and compliance requirements.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and manage collections effectively.
- Communicate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives to resolve billing issues.
- Ensure that all medical records are maintained in accordance with privacy regulations.
- Collaborate with the medical office team to streamline billing processes and improve efficiency.
- Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing or a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-9, ICD-10), and DRG classifications.
- Strong understanding of medical records management and healthcare reimbursement processes.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Proficient in using billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
