What You’ll Be Doing

As a school-based Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) in Atlanta, you’ll provide essential communication access to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in K–12 settings. Your responsibilities will include interpreting classroom instruction, student-teacher interactions, school events, and IEP meetings. By facilitating communication through American Sign Language (ASL) or other manually coded systems, you’ll ensure students are fully engaged in both academic and social aspects of school life. You’ll collaborate with educators, families, and support staff to promote inclusion and empower student success.

Qualifications and Licensure

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet Georgia’s certification standards for educational interpreters. This typically includes an EIPA score of 3.5 or higher, RID certification, or state-issued credentials. Proficiency in ASL and experience in educational settings are strongly preferred. Candidates should be passionate about inclusive education and capable of adapting to diverse communication needs.

Why Atlanta?

Atlanta is a dynamic and diverse city that combines Southern hospitality with global influence. With its rich cultural history, thriving arts scene, and world-class dining, Atlanta offers something for everyone. Enjoy strolls through Piedmont Park, explore the Martin Luther King Jr. Historic Site, or catch a performance at the Fox Theatre. The city’s affordable cost of living, strong sense of community, and growing educational landscape make it an ideal location for professionals in student support services.
