K-3 Online Reading Tutor (ESL)
About the Role:
As a K–3 Online Reading Tutor (ESL) at Braintrust Tutors, you’ll provide individualized and small-group reading instruction to elementary students using our research-based intervention programs. You’ll deliver engaging lessons with fidelity to provided materials, helping young learners build foundational literacy skills and confidence—particularly supporting English language learners through targeted instruction.

- Tutoring Details:
- Start Date - Mid-October
- 12-week tutoring assignment
- School Day Hours (primarily on the East Coast)
- K-3rd grade
- 45-minute sessions
- $22.50 for 1:1 session & $33.75 for group session
- What You Will Do:
- Provide 1:1 or small-group virtual tutoring in reading for students in grades K–3
- Implement Braintrust’s intervention programs as designed, using all materials with fidelity
- Support English language learners with appropriate scaffolds and strategies
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and academic performance
- Collaborate with the Braintrust Operations team and school staff to support student growth
- Create a welcoming, supportive virtual classroom environment that encourages student engagement
- Use provided assessments and progress monitoring tools for understanding to guide instruction
- Manage time effectively during sessions to complete all planned instructional activities
- What You Will Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
- ESL or ENL certification required for work with school-aged students (not adults) — acceptable certifications include a state-issued ESL endorsement, TESOL certification (K–12 focus), or a degree in bilingual/ESL education
- Active or expired teaching license
- Familiarity with foundational reading instruction, including phonemic awareness, phonics, and fluency, with a focus on decoding single and multisyllabic words using a structured scope and sequence.
- Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred
- Strong communication and virtual classroom management skills
- Comfortable using video conferencing tools and digital platforms
- Reliable Wi-Fi and a quiet, distraction-free workspace
- Passion for literacy and closing opportunity gaps
