Indie Game Developer (Unity / Pixel Art / Audio / Design – Remote Contract)
About the Role
Kodybod Studios is hiring freelance developers, artists, and creatives for ZOMVAC: Project Brainvac — a 2D top-down pixel horror game set in a haunted hotel. Built in Unity, ZOMVAC mixes spooky exploration, ghost vacuums, puzzles, and creepy comedy.
We’re a remote indie team building our prototype for Steam and mobile, and we’re looking for passionate contributors for multiple contract roles.
- Open Remote Contract Roles:
- Unity Programmer (C# / 2D) – Core gameplay, ghost AI, collectibles
- Pixel Artist / Animator – Sprites, tilesets, enemies, HUD
- Sound Designer / Composer – Ambient loops, gibberish voices, effects
- Narrative / Quest Designer – Dialogue, side quests, branching paths
- Level Designer – Puzzles, hazards, haunted floor layouts
- UI/UX Designer – Menus, save screen, mobile UI
- QA Tester – Bug finding, puzzle logic, softlock prevention
- Marketing / Social Assistant – Steam updates, Wishlist Wednesdays
- Localization / Cultural Editor – Translations and tone edits
- Anti-Piracy Consultant – Creative softlock/punishment systems (Spyro-style)
- What We’re Looking For
- Portfolio or sample work (GitHub, itch.io, demo reel, etc.)
- 1+ year of experience (personal or professional) in your field
- Familiarity with Unity (for dev roles), Aseprite/Photoshop (for artists), or audio tools like FMOD (for sound)
- Strong communication skills and remote reliability
- Passion for spooky, quirky, or nostalgic games
