Experienced Ghostwriter for Historical Fiction or History Nonfiction Book (Short-Term)
I’m seeking an experienced ghostwriter or co-author to help complete and elevate an existing manuscript, America 250: From Vineyards to Victory, a narrative nonfiction book that tells the true story of my ancestor, Siméon Gaugien — a 17-year-old from Burgundy, France, who joined Rochambeau’s army to fight for American independence.
This project blends meticulous historical research, family genealogy, and vivid, character-driven storytelling to honor the French-American alliance at the heart of the Revolutionary War. It’s written with the vividness of historical fiction but grounded fully in fact.
The goal is to complete a publication-ready manuscript (~50,000–70,000 words) in time for America’s Semiquincentennial in 2026.
What’s Already Done
✅ 12 draft chapters completed (~[insert word count, e.g., 30,000 words])
✅ ~95% of historical research completed, with detailed notes and source materials
✅ Storyline and chapter outline prepared
✅ Author memo outlining vision, goals, and target audience
What I Need Help With
Strengthening character development and emotional arcs
Shaping and refining the manuscript for narrative flow and pacing
Writing remaining chapters: voyage to America, Rhode Island period, Yorktown siege, conclusion
Ensuring historical accuracy while elevating the storytelling craft
Preparing a polished, engaging manuscript for general audiences and history enthusiasts
You will be collaborating to elevate an existing draft and complete remaining chapters — not starting from scratch.
Ideal Skills & Background
Ghostwriting (long-form nonfiction or historical fiction)
Historical writing and research
Narrative nonfiction craft, story development
Editing and polishing for publication
French reading proficiency is strongly preferred to engage with original source materials, though full fluency is not required
Project Scope & Timeline
Total length: ~50,000–70,000 words
Target delivery: polished manuscript by December 2025
Work style: independent but collaborative — I value regular updates, milestone drafts, and open communication to stay aligned
