Applicants must successfully pass a written competency test and have a compliment of hand tools. HART will train people to obtain the CDL if necessary./p pstrong /strong/p pstrongESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:/strong/p ul liPerforms maintenance and repair on transit buses, mechanical equipment, and/or automotive vehicles, both gasoline and diesel powered, including but not limited to engine adjustment, braking systems, shock absorbers and suspension systems and electrical and hydraulic parts and components./li liPerform routine and preventive maintenance including oil changes and tune-ups, troubleshooting inspections to determine need for repairs, and road test vehicles upon completion of repairs./li liPerforms some service calls and emergency repairs in the field./li liIdentify mechanical problems either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment./li liMaintains records of work performed./li liAssists high-level mechanics in more difficult and complex maintenance and repair tasks./li liExamine critical parts and systems using a standard checklist; repair or replace malfunctioning parts./li liPlan and establish a timetable to complete repairs and maintenance. Notify the Fleet Manager and others of repair schedule, prioritizing repairs as needed to meet operational requirements./li liOrder parts as needed for repairs./li /ul pstrong /strong/p pstrongMARGINAL FUNCTIONS:/strong/p ul liPerforms other work-related duties as assigned./li /ul pstrongREQUIREMENTS:/strong/p pstrongEducation and Experience:/strong/p ul liHigh School Diploma or G.E.D. certificate required./li liASE Master Technician Certification required./li liThree (3) or more years of experience as an automotive technician, mechanic, or other related field./li liExperience in transit environment, preferred. /li /ul pstrong /strong/p pstrongMachines, Tools and Equipment Used: /strong/p ul liGeneral maintenance tools./li /ul pstrong /strong/p pstrongLicenses/Certifications:/strong/p ul liFlorida Driver's License; must obtain Florida Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class (B) with “P” (Passenger) endorsement within the first 90 days of employment./li liASE Master Technician Certification./li /ul pstrong /strong/p pstrongQUALIFICATIONS: /strong/p pstrongKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:/strong/p ul liStrong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills./li liProven knowledge of diagnostic and repair equipment./li liAbility to operate maintenance equipment safely./li liAbility to understand and follow oral and written instructions./li liAbility to interact with a wide variety of personalities./li liAbility to perform tasks requiring physical strength and endurance, when required./li liAbility to obtain and maintain a working knowledge of the agency’s technical manuals and procedures./li liAbility to pass agency specific training and qualifications as required; to work overtime, to include shift work, weekends, and holidays as needed./li liAbility to work various shifts, hours and days; including overtime, weekends and holidays as needed./li liAbility to meet attendance requirements./li liKnowledge of standard methods, practices, tools and equipment employed in transit servicing maintenance./li liBasic computer knowledge including but not limited to Outlook, Word, and Excel./li liWorking knowledge of occupational hazards, precautions and safety requirements of the associated job duties./li /ul pstrongPhysical Demands/Work Environment:/strong/p ul liConstant periods of hearing, near and far acuity, depth perception, color vision and speaking./li liVisual acuity is necessary to perform all duties./li liFrequent periods of walking and sitting./li liFrequent periods of standing and squatting./li liOccasional periods of lifting and carrying supplies and equipment weighing 50 pounds or more./li liExposure to extreme noise when interfacing in the shop areas.
