Financial Manager

Flyer One Ventures — is a seed-stage venture capital firm which invests in European startups. We’ve already invested in 87 startups and deployed nearly $43M within six years.


We focus on software-first products that use the power of tech to boost productivity. We primarily invest at seed. Occasionally, we do pre-seed, focusing on second-time founders. Our average check is $500k, but we can go as low as $200k and as high as $2M with follow-ons. We are a fund of entrepreneurs who know how hard it is to build a company. Our team helps founders with growth, recruiting, PR, business development, and investment relations.


We’re looking for an experienced Financial Manager with strong fundamentals and a bias for ownership, someone ready to build the finance function alongside seasoned founders and lead financial operations with confidence.



About you:



  • 5+ years of experience in finance, audit, fund operations, or a related field

  • Fluent in drawdowns, waterfalls, IPEV valuations, and LP queries

  • Deep understanding of audit processes, reporting cycles, and fund operations

  • Strong budgeting, variance analysis, and stakeholder communication skills

  • Familiar with IFRS or US GAAP and international tax basics

  • Fluent English - clear and credible with senior stakeholders and LPs

    Nice to have:

  • Direct experience with VC/PE fund structures and IPEV valuation.

  • Exposure to Cyprus, Luxembourg, or similar fund jurisdictions.


What will you do:


  • Manage 12-month rolling cash flow for both fund and management company

  • Own treasury operations: initiate drawdowns and distributions

  • Lead annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting cycles

  • Track budget vs actuals and flag >5% variances with clear commentary

  • Maintain a register of timing differences for future fund planning

  • Prepare internal reports and scenario-based financial models

  • Oversee fund accounting, capital accounts, and administrator SLAs

  • Escalate missed deliverables or delays with external providers

  • Run year-end audits and coordinate tax filings with external partners

  • Maintain finance policies and ensure compliance (incl. AML/KYC)

  • Collaborate closely with partners, administrators, and legal/tax advisors
