What you’d be doing:
- Play a key role in assisting with the development and implementation of fraud prevention strategies and investigative operations. Contribute to protecting the organization's interests and reputation.
- Assist in investigations involving high-profile and sensitive cases with intricate and specialized fraud referrals. These cases often come with significant exposure and complexity, and your role is essential in supporting their resolution.
- Utilize your knowledge of state laws and regulations pertaining to the P&C insurance industry, its products, services, and processes. This understanding is essential to your investigative capabilities and valuable to the organization.
- Help prepare and deliver detailed and well-structured verbal and written investigative reports. These reports are crucial for summarizing investigation findings and their implications.
- Provide support as a subject matter resource within the Special Investigation Unit (SIU). Offer guidance and training to team members involved in fraud investigations, contributing to their professional growth and expertise.
- Support the cultivation and maintenance of relationships with key stakeholders, industry experts, and law enforcement authorities in the field of fraud investigation, detection, and prevention. These connections are vital to the organization's holistic approach to fraud prevention.
- Assist with CAT duty responsibilities as needed, ensuring a timely and efficient response to business requirements during extraordinary events or emergencies.
- Contribute to regulatory compliance activities, including tasks such as regulatory reporting, research, training, and educational requirements. Help maintain the organization's adherence to industry regulations and standards.
- Collaborate in utilizing third-party vendors and specialized tools as key elements of your approach to conducting effective and comprehensive claim investigations.
In this role, a Special Investigator 1 will be an essential part of the organization's efforts to combat fraudulent activities, maintain compliance, and preserve our reputation for ethical practices. Your commitment and growing expertise will be instrumental in achieving these goals.
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Associate's degree in a related field or equivalent relevant education.
- A minimum of 2 - 4 years of experience in P&C SIU/Fraud investigations or 2 years in a related fraud industry investigation role.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of fraud investigations, including some familiarity with case law, state laws, and regulations.
- Willingness and ability to obtain a P&C adjuster's license within 90 days of employment.
- Experience as an investigator with some involvement in conducting statements involving multiple parties.
- Basic proficiency in gathering evidence and making conclusions based on objective details related to fraud applicability.
- Basic ability to organize and prioritize workloads, handle multiple tasks, and propose solutions for problems.
- Basic proficiency in using computers and common software packages to input and extract data for analysis from pertinent data sources and systems.
- Some familiarity with city, state, and local regulations, legal principles, contract understanding, case law, medical treatment, and medical terminology.
- Exposure to managing claims and cases, including some specialty or complexity.
