- About the Role:As an Investment Actuary Intern, you’ll be exposed to many aspects of the company's activities, especially the day-to-day operations of the Investments Actuarial Team. Intern will primarily assist with aspects of investment assumptions, ALM reporting and process automation. The Investment Actuary Intern position reports to the ALM Actuarial Assistant and can be based out of our office in Topeka or Overland Park, Kansas, Des Moines, Iowa, or remotely for the right candidate. We work a hybrid schedule, offering flexibility to work both remotely and on-site.
- Assist with updating and improving reports, spreadsheets and documentation
- Assist the Investment Actuarial Assistant
- Data validation, data flow automation and process documentation
- Develop and utilize calculation tools in support of corporate models
- Special projects as assigned
- What We’re Looking For:Students eligible for the internship will be full-time students, available to work approximately 19 hours per week. Student will be expected to work during and in between semesters and up to 40 hours during the summer. This is not a summer only internship.
- College student pursuing a degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Finance or Computer Science at the junior to graduate level
- Strong GPA in all areas of study
- Commitment to pursue an actuarial credential demonstrated by preparation for Society of Actuaries-administered exams or exam credit
- Advanced Excel knowledge/skill required including functions and macro creation, editing and use
- Experience with modern programming languages preferred
- Exposure to fixed income asset types
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines required
- Accuracy and the ability to be very detail oriented
