Part-Time Accounting & HR Specialist (Remote)

As we scale, we're looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Accounting & HR Specialist to support our finance and people operations.
What You’ll Do:
- Accounting (70%)
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online
- Reconcile accounts, credit cards, and bank statements
- Generate monthly financial reports
- Manage accounts payable/receivable and vendor payments
- Maintain accurate records for tax and audit purposes
- Collaborate with leadership on cash flow tracking and budgeting
- Adapt to and learn a new ERP system (to be implemented in the near future) — staying proactive and tech-savvy is essential
- HR (30%)
- Maintain employee records and documents (W-9s, I-9s, onboarding docs)
- Process payroll (Gusto or similar) and coordinate with accountant as needed
- Assist with onboarding, PTO tracking, and policy updates
- Handle contractor agreements and compliance
- Support hiring and HR admin tasks as needed
- Requirements:
- 1–3 years of QuickBooks Online experience
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
- Experience with payroll and HR administration
- Comfortable learning and using new software systems (ERP, HR tools, etc.)
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
- Comfortable working with remote teams
- U.S.-based (we do not hire internationally for this role)
- Nice to Have:
- Experience with Gusto, Asana, Outlook, G Suite, or Slack
- Background in a startup or small business environment
- Familiarity with California HR compliance
- Job Details:
- Part-Time (20–35 hours/week, flexible schedule)
- Fully Remote (U.S. only)
- Pay: $28–$35/hour DOE
- Independent contractor (1099) role
