Editorial Researcher / Fact-Checker
About Us
GK News is a mission-driven media company committed to rebuilding trust in journalism through clarity, structure, and objectivity. We produce research-backed reporting and in-depth analysis using a proprietary framework that avoids sensationalism and political slant. Our editorial approach is designed to equip readers with the tools to think critically, not passively consume. If you’re passionate about truth, rigor, and the role of journalism in strengthening public discourse, you’ll thrive here.
Job Overview
We are seeking a meticulous and intellectually curious Editorial Researcher and Fact-Checker to support our growing editorial team. This role is essential to maintaining the high standards of accuracy, depth, and clarity that define GK News. You will work closely with writers and editors to verify facts, vet sources, and enhance the integrity of our reporting across a range of topics, including politics, global affairs, media literacy, and institutional accountability.
This is an ideal position for someone with a sharp analytical mindset, an obsessive attention to detail, and a passion for getting the facts right. While this is not a writing-heavy role, there will be occasional opportunities to contribute research memos, sidebars, or short explanatory features, depending on your interest and experience.

- Vet and cross-reference sources to ensure credibility, transparency, and alignment with our editorial standards.
- Conduct in-depth background research to support writers and editors in developing accurate and nuanced reporting.
- Track primary sources, data sets, government reports, academic studies, and historical materials.
- Flag inconsistencies, unsupported claims, or vague language, and collaborate with writers to address them.
- Ensure adherence to GK News’ style guidelines and editorial framework.
- Help maintain internal research systems and source archives.
- Stay informed on current events, media ethics, and fact-checking tools and best practices.
- Qualifications
- Relevant experience in research, journalism, fact-checking, or academic editorial work.
- Strong research and source evaluation skills; ability to quickly assess the reliability and relevance of information.
- Demonstrated commitment to accuracy, clarity, and editorial independence.
- Familiarity with fact-checking protocols and tools (e.g., media bias ratings, academic databases, reverse image search).
- Excellent written communication and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style or AP Style is a plus.
- What We Offer
- A chance to contribute to a pioneering media organization with a clear and principled mission.
- Collaborative, intellectually rigorous work environment.
- Remote-friendly setup, with optional hybrid opportunities in Boston or New York City.
- Competitive compensation and long-term growth potential.
