Overview:

We are searching for a Senior Director of Product Marketing (PMM) to lead and scale a small group of incredibly talented strategic thinkers. This is a unique opportunity to evolve the storytelling, positioning, and go-to-market strategy for a category-defining product in a rapidly accelerating moment-in-time. GitHub is in the midst of reinventing itself in a modern AI / Agentic era, and we’re looking for an incredibly smart and strategic player/coach to set priorities and help drive impact and clarity during this dynamic era. You’ll report to the VP, Global Brand & Marketing, and work with leaders across product and revenue to lead GTM strategy, positioning, and messaging across core and emerging GitHub products.

    Responsibilities:
  • Mentor and manage a team of product marketers, guiding their careers and building a high-performance, collaborative culture. Coach and provide strategic guidance to define both the immediate / fast twitch launches and set the stage for longer-term vision and strategy.
  • Jump into detailed execution—developing briefs, strategic decks, driving launch programs, running competitive analysis, and supporting sales enablement.
  • Work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Sales, Developer Relations, Demand Gen, Customer Success, Analysts, and PR.
  • Shape product narrative & positioning that resonates with developers, teams, and enterprises.
  • Share industry expertise and industry trends to develop insights from market or user research, competitive analyses, industry trends, and across the product portfolio to create a differentiated value proposition that aligns with customer goals.
  • Monitor trends, competitive landscape, and user behavior to anticipate opportunities and threats. Anticipate business implications of market trends and build strategic solutions to mitigate risk and ensure that GitHub is ahead of the market and priority competitors.
  • Build a strategy that prioritizes revenue growth and monetization, leveraging metrics and impact in partnership with Product, Revenue, and Marketing teams.
  • Drive thought leadership via content, webinars, analyst relations, and events.
  • Identify and direct marketing strategies for customer acquisition, adoption, and renewals. Partner with multiple matrixed teams to deliver customer and partner success, resulting in revenue, growth, and increased market share.
  • Build assets: decks, one-pagers, demos, battlecards, ROI calculators.
  • Partner with enablement to train Sales, Customer Success, and partners.
  • Ensure customer stories are impactful, grounded in value, and communicate GitHub's differentiated messaging and value proposition.
  • Leverage analytics to inform product positioning and GTM tactics.

Qualifications:

    Required Qualifications:
  • 12+ years experience in Marketing
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 10+ years experience in Marketing
  • OR Master's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 8+ years experience in Marketing
  • OR Doctorate in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 6+ years experience in Marketing
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of people management experience.
  • Experience leading product marketing talent.
  • Experience in B2B SaaS product marketing.
    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Deep understanding of the emerging Agentic AI developer ecosystem and software security landscape.
  • Proven success in fast-paced, developer-focused or platform-driven environments.
  • Strategic leader with a hands-on, player/coach mindset.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity—able to move quickly, adapt, and pivot as needed.
  • Collaborative style to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
  • Experience engaging both enterprise decision-makers and developer audiences

Compensation Range: The base salary range for this job is USD $132,400.00 - USD $351,300.00 /Yr.

These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An individual's base pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant. At GitHub certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These rewards are allocated based on individual impact in role. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.
