Print Shop Manager
pstrongJOB TITLE:/strong Print Shop Manager/p pnbsp;/p pstrongDEPARTMENT:/strong Print amp; Mail Center/p pnbsp;/p pstrongREPORTS TO:/strong Director of Purchasing and Campus Support Services/p pnbsp;/p pstrongPURPOSE OF POSITION:/strong/p pnbsp;/p pEfficiently operate and professional manage the software and equipment for digital print production and bindery services supplied by the university and ensure quality and timely delivery of printed materials and other projects./p pnbsp;/p pstrongESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:/strong/p pnbsp;/p ul liEnsure all printing and binding equipment is properly maintained and upgraded as necessary./li liOversee the Print Shop Operator and assist with the operation of the high-speed digital production printers, maintaining suitable operating functions with assistance from remote technical advisors./li liOversee fleet management for supplies, repairs, inventory, service contracts, and communications./li liProvide oversight and assistance for the production of printed materials from a variety of digital sources - electronic mail, hardcopy original, and web-based file transfers./li liTroubleshoot and guide processes to determine with the Print Shop Operator if a solution can be managed "in-house" or if outside technicians need to be brought in./li liProvide oversight and assistance for the operation of bindery equipment, including the high-speed folder, papercutter, drill press, booklet stitcher, and punch/coil binder./li liSupervise and coordinate work for all student employees of the Printnbsp; amp; Mail Center./li liOversee and support the safe operational practices with some training and supervision of student assistants./li liServe as a point of contact for internal and external customers, answer questions, and gather information needed to effectively complete project requests or pass information to the parties in the department that need it./li liProvide reports as requested for the director and assist as needed with the planning and budgeting process./li liPerform other duties as assigned./li /ul pnbsp;/p pstrongKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:/strong/p pnbsp;/p ul liA clear understanding and commitment to the Reformed perspective and mission of Dordt University and the ability to clearly articulate and communicate the mission effectively./li liAbility to express an active Christian commitment, which shall include identification with a local organized church that holds to beliefs that are consistent with the mission of the university./li liProspective members of the Dordt University community are expected to agree with its sexuality, gender identity, and sexual conduct policy, which can be found on the DU website (contact the HR Office if you need additional information)./li liAA or BA degree is preferred, and 1-3 years of demonstrated experience in a print and mail center is ideal, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training./li liKnowledge of copiers and binding equipment./li liKnowledge of relevant software, including graphic design software and printing-related software is helpful./li liAbility to identify and resolve technical and operational issues./li liAbility to plan, schedule, and manage print projects effectively with the team./li liStrong organizational and coordination skills./li liAbility to motivate, supervise, and mentor printing staff and student employees./li liAttention to detail and being "deadline-oriented" are a must./li liAbility to work independently and as part of a team to fulfill customer needs./li liMust be able to provide excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards co-workers and customers./li liGood interpersonal and written communication skills are required to be able to communicate with both internal and external customers./li /ul div blockquote div iTechnical knowldege that is beneficial but not required (will train):/i /div div ul liiComprehensive understadning of various printing technologies, equipment operation, and maintenance./i/li liiKnowledge of pre-press processes (color managment, file prepraration), and post-press processes (binding, finishing)./i/li liiFamiliarity with different papertypes, inks, and other printing materials./i/li liiKnowledge of inventory management systems and processes is beneficial/i/li /ul /div /blockquote /div pnbsp;/p pstrongJOB TITLE:/strong Print Shop Manager/p pnbsp;/p pstrongDEPARTMENT:/strong Print amp;
