Experienced Publisher/Editor Needed for Trendy Local Motorsports Magazine
We're launching a modern, community-driven local motorsports magazine with a focus on car culture, storytelling, and the people behind the machines. Our aim is to create something fresh—where lifestyle meets horsepower, blending automotive passion with human interest stories.
We’re seeking a creative, detail-oriented Publisher/Editor who can take this vision and bring it to life. This is a freelance/contractor role with the opportunity to help shape a unique print + digital publication from the ground up.
Responsibilities:
Develop and manage editorial calendar
Source, write, or edit stories related to car culture, local events, garage builds, motorsports news, and enthusiast profiles
Curate and guide visual direction (in collaboration with designers and photographers)
Ensure each issue maintains consistent tone, voice, and storytelling integrity
Collaborate on launch strategy, branding, and community engagement
Ideal Candidate Has:
Proven experience publishing or editing magazines (print or digital)
Strong knowledge and passion for motorsports and car culture
Experience working with creative teams (writers, photographers, designers)
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple content pieces
Familiarity with tools like Adobe InDesign, Canva, or similar platforms a plus
Nice-to-Have:
Ties to local car communities or events
Experience in startup or indie media environments
Past experience working on lifestyle or niche enthusiast publications
About the Magazine:
This is a startup publication rooted in Fort Worth, TX, with ambitions to reflect and grow the local car scene. Think Race Service meets Aime Leon Dore—stylish, authentic, and built around the community. We’ll launch with a few issues per year and grow from there.
If you're passionate about storytelling and motorsports—and want to be part of a cultural movement, not just another magazine—we’d love to hear from you.
