Collaborative Physician - Must reside in Alabama
Job Summary
A growing telehealth organization is seeking a part-time Collaborative Physician to supervise a team of advanced practice providers (NPs and PAs) delivering virtual care to a geriatric population in Alabama. This is a fully remote role with minimal time commitment, ideal for physicians with experience in internal medicine, family medicine, geriatrics, or hospital medicine. The role includes collaboration and oversight duties only—no direct patient care is required.
- Responsibilities
- Maintain a compliant collaborative practice agreement with nurse practitioners and physician assistants practicing in Alabama
- Provide supervision through chart reviews and scheduled virtual or in-person meetings (two in-person meetings annually, reimbursed by the company)
- Be accessible to APPs for consultation and clinical support as needed
- Ensure adherence to state regulatory requirements, especially regarding prescribing and oversight
- Support a team of ~9–10 APPs (equivalent to ~3 FTEs) with low-volume telehealth caseloads
- Skills & Qualifications
- MD or DO with an active, unrestricted Alabama medical license
- Board certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or Hospital Medicine
- Active Alabama DEA registration
- Prior experience supervising or collaborating with advanced practice providers preferred
- Knowledge of Alabama scope of practice laws for NPs and PAs preferred
- Strong communication and professional collaboration skills
- Comfortable working in a fully remote environment
