Search for Common Ground (Search), a global nonprofit organization, has been at the forefront of conflict transformation and peacebuilding for over four decades. With a mission to end violent conflict and build safe, healthy, and just societies, Search employs a people-centered approach and innovative strategies to foster collaborative action and transformational change among diverse communities in over 30 countries. Search is currently developing a flagship leadership development experience: the Common Ground Leadership Academy (CGLA). The Academy will equip leaders with the insights, tools, and temperament to drive collaborative action and transformational change in a deeply polarized world. While initially serving Search’s internal leadership, the Academy is envisioned to expand to external leaders across sectors and geographies. As this vision takes shape, Search is seeking a consultant to deliver a targeted market analysis that will inform strategic design, differentiation, audience engagement, pricing, and launch strategies.Objective
To conduct a market analysis that clarifies the global demand and positioning for CGLA, identifies potential target audiences, informs pricing and delivery models, and offers strategic recommendations for program deployment and differentiation in a crowded leadership training market. The analysis will support executive decisions related to program design, scope, rollout strategy, and value proposition for both nonprofit and for-profit sectors.Qualifications: Search is seeking a consultant or firm with demonstrated experience in:
- Market analysis for leadership, learning, or capacity-building products, particularly with international audiences
- Understanding of the adult learning and professional development ecosystem, including both for-profit and nonprofit markets
- Conducting stakeholder interviews and synthesizing insight into clear strategic recommendations
- Translating qualitative and quantitative insights into practical, decision-ready outputs
- Positioning values-driven and impact-oriented leadership development products in a commercially viable way
- Familiarity with conflict transformation or cross-sector changemaking is a strong advantage.
Scope of Work: The consultant will be responsible for delivering a written market analysis and strategic insights that address the following areas:
- Leadership Learning Market Overview
- Total addressable market (TAM) and growth projections
- Key trends influencing demand for leadership training
- Constraints or barriers to entry
- Target Audience Analysis
- Mapping of relevant audience segments across regions, sectors, and roles
- Identification of core learner needs, expectations, and motivations
- Audience preferences regarding delivery modes (e.g., virtual/in-person, cohort/self-paced)
- Analysis of distinct audience needs in nonprofit vs. for-profit sectors.
- Competitive Landscape
- Benchmarking of comparable or competing leadership development offerings
- Analysis of program offerings, pricing models, value propositions, delivery formats, and market presence
- Identification of gaps and whitespace opportunities in the current market
- Pricing and Product Model Insights
- Standard pricing models and factors influencing purchasing decisions
- Recommendations for pricing tiers or structures
- Guidance on packaging options (e.g., certification, coaching add-ons, network access, capstone experiences)
- Strategic Recommendations
- Options for audience segmentation (by sector, geography, function)
- Recommended product models and deployment strategies (including sequencing and bundling)
- Differentiation strategy: how CGLA can stand out in a crowded field
- Recommendations for soft-launch and piloting
Deliverables
- Inception report with refined research questions and boundaries
- Mid-point check-in presentation and summary of emerging findings
- Final market analysis report addressing the areas outlined in the scope
- Strategic recommendation brief or slide deck tailored for internal leadership decision-making
Timeline
- The consultant is expected to complete the scope of work over a 6-week period from July 21 to August 29, 2025, with key milestones and deliverables due as follows:
- Inception phase and research plan: by July 21
- Stakeholder interviews and desk research: July 21–August 11
- Mid-point findings and recommendations preview: by August 18
- Final deliverables submitted: by September 5
