A Paraprofessional (PARA) or Instructional Assistant (IA) position for the upcoming school year has opened in the New Providence, New Jersey area. We are looking for a kind and compassionate candidate wanting to work with students of varying levels and meets the following qualifications:
- Qualifications:
- New Jersey Instructional Substitute or Paraprofessional Certification preferred
- Previous experience working with children or in educational settings preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in support the academic and personal growth of students.
- Ability to follow instructions, work collaboratively with others, and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic classroom environment.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology tools may be required.
- About the Position:
- Full-Time: up to 40 hours per week
- Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 2:30 pm (hours may vary)
- Current School Year
- Specific caseload details will be shared during the interview process
- Pay Rate: $20 - 30 per hour, depending on previous experience
- Daily Responsibilities:
- Support Instruction: Assist the teacher in delivering instruction by providing one-on-one or small group support to students, reinforcing concepts taught in class, and facilitating activities as directed.
- Student Assistance: Provide academic support to students with diverse learning needs. Offer guidance and encouragement to students to enhance their understanding and participation.
- Classroom Management: Assist in maintaining a positive and organized classroom environment by enforcing rules and procedures, managing student behavior, and promoting a culture of respect and inclusivity.
- Material Preparation: Assist in the preparation of instructional materials, including setting up equipment, distributing materials, and organizing resources to support lesson plans and activities.
- Assessment Support: Assist in administering assessments, grading assignments, and recording student progress as directed by the teacher. Provide feedback to students to help them understand their strengths and areas for improvement.
- Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with the teacher, sharing observations and insights about student progress, behavior, and any concerns that may arise.
- Supervision: Supervise students during transitions, recess, lunchtime, and other non-instructional periods, ensuring their safety and well-being while promoting positive social interactions.
- Professional Development: Participate in training sessions, workshops, and meetings to enhance knowledge and skills related to classroom instruction, student support, and best practices in education.
