THIS IS A FULL-TIME, EXEMPT ROLE.
Position Overview: The Specialty Underwriting Technical Lead supports underwriting excellence for commercial surety by focusing on account and portfolio underwriting, contributing to strategy development, and providing technical guidance to local teams.
- In This Role, You Will :
- Support underwriting excellence for the commercial surety team including account and transactional units.
- Focus on account and portfolio underwriting, while also supporting the field's business development efforts.
- Contribute to strategy development and execution.
- Act as a resource to local teams, providing technical guidance and support.
- Analyze and evaluate new business opportunities to ensure profitability and compliance with company standards.
- Technical Knowledge :
- In-depth knowledge of underwriting principles and practices
- Familiarity with industry trends, regulatory requirements, and market conditions
- Understanding of risk assessment and mitigation strategies
- Portfolio Management :
- Assist in managing the underwriting portfolio to ensure profitability and quality standards
- Monitor and analyze portfolio performance, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement
- Participates in underwriting audits as well as internal quality review audits from a Home-Office perspective.
- Partners with leadership and others throughout the organization including actuary, legal, reinsurance, claims and finance.
- What You Need To Apply :
- 5+ years of underwriting experience in the line of business, AFSB designation a plus
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with experience across a range of customer industries
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Proficiency in underwriting and financial analysis
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while balancing multiple priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Exposure and familiarity with credit models such as Moody's RiskCalc & CreditEdge a plus
